Hi Kenson,

Thank you for visiting our site. With your previous experience with big dogs, I believe you understand fully the responsibility that comes with being a pet owner. You mentioned that you came back to serve your NS which I believe is about 2 years. So, are you planning to go back to Australia once your NS is done? If so, what will happen to the dog that you plan to adopt?

As for living in a HDB apartment, the rule is that you are allowed to keep one small breed. To find out which breeds are termed small, you can check with the SPCA. And if you do decide to go ahead and adopt, you can also pay them a visit to see if there are any small breeds available for adoption.

Here's the contact for SPCA: 62875355 ext 24

Good luck and please remember that a pet is for life!

Regards,
Rosalind

I am a teenager from australia recently same back to serve my ns, currently i get to book out of camp everyday. Hence looking for a dog. I am aware that there are only certain breeds of dogs that I can have as I am putting up in a HDB flat. I do have experience with dogs as I had two other dogs before, a rott weilier and a labrador. It would be good if i can get some advise.

Thank you,
Regards

Hi Willy,

Good to hear that you and your wife are ready to adopt. However, a retriever is not a small dog. Perhaps, you could visit one of the shelters mentioned above over the weekend to see what breed would be best suited for your home and your family.

Good luck & do keep us inform of the new addition to your family. :)

My children already grown-up, most of the time my wife and I feel lonely at home. We wish to adopt a Retriver or similar(prefer small one)to accompany us.
