Cousin Sajal And His Pets

I believe loving animals is in our blood. Here’s our favorite cousin, Sajal (Mr. Always Positive and Ever Smiling) with his 6 dogs whom he rescued from the shelter of Kalimpong.

All his dogs are big and quite ferocious, but after they’d got to know us, they were playful as puppies (except for Ownay Subba - the Tibetan Mastiff). He’s one dog you won’t want to mess with!

Here’s our funny cousin’s take on how he came about giving 3 of them their names.

1. Shelter Man - She’s the newest to the household and like the others, was rescued from the shelter. Hence one part shelter, but don’t ask us why he named her a “MAN”.

2. Mangalay - He’s Sajal’s favorite but a real thief. Apparently, he goes around the neighborhood and brings home lots of shoes!! And by the way, Mangal in Nepali means “Tuesday”. You guess it, he came home with Sajal on Tuesday.

3. Serena - Heard of the famous tennis player, Serena Williams? Yes, that’s how she got her first name!
