Playdates For Dogs
This is just a short compilation of what you might see from your dog’s behavior if your dog has never had the opportunity to socialize before and if you’re planning to send him/her for boarding or daycare.
The chances that your little one will react in the following manner should not come as a surprise
1. Your dog becomes very timid and hides in a corner.
2. Your dog becomes defensive when other dogs try to sniff him/her.
3. Your dog begins to whine and begs you to carry him/her.
4. Your dog gets extremely excited and pees uncontrollably.
5. Your dog barks non-stop.
Like any other social creatures, they need time to warm up to others. Depending on their individual character and age, there’s really no fixed time as to how fast or slow they will get used to the new environment and the other guests.
But the thing for parents to understand is to work closely with the caregiver and get feedback to see how your little one is coping.
In this clip, you’ll see 8 month old Mischa (Mini Dachshund) warming up very quickly to two very cute boys of her own kind, Sebastian & Rupert.
And as usually the case, the younger they start socializing, they’ll warm up faster. You’ll see their tails wagging non-stop!
